Listen and choose

Download beach wave sounds

These are short excerpts from one beach recording, not long ocean ambience tracks. Source comments mention voices in the original recording; preview each clip for any background sound before using it. Both formats are stereo, 44.1 kHz and 24-bit.

Origin and reuse

Where these wave sounds come from

These excerpts were prepared by qubodup for OpenGameArt from jasinski’s beach recording on Freesound. The recorder describes waves at Alkai Beach in Seattle. Both source pages identify the sound as CC0 1.0, allowing commercial use and modification without attribution; we credit the contributors as a courtesy.

The FLAC downloads are the four files from OpenGameArt. The WAV files are decoded from those FLACs as 24-bit PCM; they do not add information to the source. See the file notice for details and checksums.

Build a coastal scene

Use wave sounds in an edit

  1. Preview each clip for the wave movement and any background sound. Start at a comfortable listening level.
  2. Place a clip under the action and balance it against speech or music. For a longer scene, arrange several clips with varied spacing rather than repeating one mechanically.
  3. Listen to the joins. These clips are not advertised as seamless loops; a crossfade may help but should be checked in context.
  4. Export and listen again, especially where the ambience starts or ends.

Use the audio trimmer to shorten a supported file, or compare rain and wind recordings for a different atmosphere. Files do not transfer automatically between tools.

Common questions

Can I use these wave sounds commercially?

The original recording and the excerpt collection are identified as CC0 on their source pages. Review those statements and check rights to any other material in your project separately.

Are these long, seamless ocean loops?

No. The clips are about two to four seconds each and are not guaranteed to loop seamlessly. The linked original is a longer recording, available through Freesound subject to its download process.

Are voices present?

Comments on the original recording mention voices. We cannot promise that every excerpt is free of other sounds, so preview each file before choosing it.
