WAV to MP3
Compare bitrate and actual file size for a delivery copy.

Convert a short WAV or M4A to MP3, or an MP3 or M4A to WAV. Choose a supported pair, preview the actual file and download it. Your recording stays in your browser.
Choose WAV to create an MP3 delivery copy. Preview and compare the actual file size before downloading.
A comparison only: this does not automatically choose a bitrate or guarantee acceptance by another service. Check that destination's actual rules.
Your audio stays in this browser. No trimming, fades, normalization, mono downmix, or noise removal is applied. Keep your original; this tool does not promise a smaller file at every bitrate.
Convert, listen, keep the original
Choose one of the four supported pairs before opening your file.
Choose WAV or M4A to MP3, or MP3 or M4A to WAV. Select a compatible mono or stereo file up to five minutes and 50 MiB.
Choose an MP3 bitrate or a WAV sample rate. The file is decoded locally; the actual output must also fit 50 MiB. M4A and WAV codec support depends on your browser.
Listen to the prepared file and download that same export. Changing the conversion clears the selected file and result, so save a useful export first.

MP3 is a lossy encoding. A lower bitrate may make a smaller delivery copy but can change the sound. Compare the actual file and listen to a busy or quiet passage. A higher bitrate cannot restore detail already lost in the source.
WAV here is 16-bit PCM at the selected 44.1 or 48 kHz, with the decoded mono or stereo layout. It can be convenient for editing, but converting MP3 or M4A to WAV does not undo earlier compression. A small input can become a WAV larger than the 50 MiB output limit; the audio size calculator helps estimate it.
Conversion does not remove noise or separate instruments. It creates a new file without copying source tags or artwork. MP3 encoding may introduce delay or padding, so check alignment when placing it against video. Keep the original.

A few useful answers
Choose WAV to MP3, M4A to MP3, MP3 to WAV, or M4A to WAV. Other format pairs are not supported on this page. M4A and WAV are containers, and whether the source codec opens depends on browser support.
These conversions, their previews and downloads are free and require no account. Files are processed locally in your browser; they are not uploaded to Saturalabs. AI separation is a separate account-and-credit service.
Choose a compatible mono or stereo input up to 50 MiB and five minutes. The actual output must also fit 50 MiB. A compact MP3 or M4A can decode to a WAV that is too large; choose a shorter excerpt when needed.
No. WAV can be useful as a PCM working copy, but decoding cannot restore information lost in an earlier MP3 or AAC encode. A new MP3 export is lossy and may add encoding delay or padding.
No. The converter creates a new audio file without copying the original tags and artwork. Keep the original. Review the actual output, especially if you need precise timing against video.
