How to Get Lyrics on Spotify and Sing Along

Find Spotify lyrics on mobile, desktop and other devices, troubleshoot missing lyrics, and compare sing-along options with a separate karaoke backing.

In this guide
The short version

Open Now Playing and scroll to Lyrics on mobile, or select Lyrics while playing a song on desktop. Availability varies by song, device and market. Displayed lyrics do not themselves remove the singer from the recording.

To get lyrics on Spotify, play a song and open Now Playing. On a phone, scroll down to Lyrics and tap them for a full-screen view. On desktop or the web player, select the Lyrics control at the bottom while the song plays. Spotify says lyrics are available on both Free and Premium tiers, though not for every song, device or market.

You can sing along to displayed lyrics, but the lyrics view itself does not remove the recorded singer. If you need adjustable vocals or a separate backing file, see the options below.

Show Spotify lyrics on iPhone or Android

  1. Play a song in the Spotify app and tap the Now Playing bar at the bottom.
  2. Scroll down to Lyrics. Tap the lyrics to expand them to full screen.
  3. Follow the words as the song plays. On a tablet, Spotify says to tap the album artwork in the side menu to open the player.

Spotify also documents a mobile lyrics preview beneath album art or over Canvas. To hide or show that preview, open the three-dot menu in Now Playing and switch Lyrics off or on. The preview setting applies to tracks with available lyrics and does not appear on music videos. See Spotify's lyrics support page for the current controls.

Show lyrics on desktop, web or another device

  1. Play a song in the Spotify desktop app or web player.
  2. Select the Lyrics control at the bottom of the player.
  3. Follow the available lyrics. On other supported devices, select the Lyrics control if present; Spotify notes that availability differs by device.

The layout can change with the app and device. If you do not see lyrics, test another song and check the troubleshooting steps below instead of assuming your account has a vocal-removal control.

Spotify's February 2026 lyrics update describes translations, offline lyrics and mobile previews. A translation or timed display may not exist for every track.

Does Spotify have a karaoke mode?

Spotify documents a lyrics feature for singing along, but its current lyrics support page does not describe a universally available control to remove the recorded vocals or score every performance. If your app displays an additional feature, check its current instructions and availability; do not assume a missing mic button means lyrics are broken. Lyrics and a vocal-reduced backing solve different parts of a karaoke setup.

For supported Apple Music catalog songs, Apple Music Sing offers a vocal slider on eligible devices and requires an Apple Music subscription. Its playback feature is separate from Spotify.

Make a separate backing for practice

If you need a file rather than a streaming sing-along, first look for an authorized instrumental or the original multitrack project. If you have a separate local MP3, WAV, MP4 or MOV that you have permission to use, Saturalabs Karaoke Maker can test a described singing source. Upload a supported local file up to 50 MiB and audition Background audio for the potential backing. Isolated sound is the estimated vocal.

Saturalabs does not import Spotify streaming links. Separation can leave vocal bleed or change instruments, and AI downloads require an account and sufficient credits. The output is audio, not a synchronized lyric display. For a video using authorized lyrics, follow how to make a karaoke video.

Can I get Spotify lyrics offline?

Spotify announced that lyrics are saved with downloaded tracks as an offline feature for Premium users, with rollout and availability subject to change. Check the current app, plan and song before relying on it for an event.
